Administration is Related to Meditation

Administration is extremely important in the world because administrators, working at different levels, are responsible for many aspects of the family, society and country. Consequently effective administration depends on the approval and acceptance of society through voting, appointment or natural selection. In all cases, the person must have the qualities accepted by the society.
Meditation relates to administration in the efficiency and quality of the administration. All administrators should possess efficiency and quality in administration of work and create peace and order in the society. Without these qualities, the society can deteriorate. Efficiency and quality come from meditation. A raw diamond has potential high qualities but an uneducated and untrained hand can reduce its beauty and qualities. Conversely, a trained diamond cutter with experience and appropriate tools can turn the stone into a stunning piece that can attain a great price. In the same way, meditation creates mind power, which in turn clears the mind. The clearing of the mind is similar to the cutting of a raw stone with modern tools. Meditation will enable the administrator to attain a clear and concise mind that is of high quality and possesses moral principles. Emotions attached to the mind can cloud the mind and make it overlook important things such as ethics and morality. Mind power can help the administrator see through problems clearly and lead the way to more effective management so that set objectives can be achieved; similar to an expert diamond cutter with high experience.
Once meditation produces enough mind power, consciousness (sati) will be achieved. At this point, consciousness (sati) will strengthen the mind. Administration is tiring because a significant amount of mind power is consumed; therefore, adequate rest and relaxation are required. Meditation provides quality rest-time; therefore, an administrator should study meditation. After studying meditation the administrator should meditate at least 2 or 3 weeks in a one year time period, even when on holiday. He should do this without causing himself discomfort or stress. The rest experience from meditation refreshes and increases mind power. Administrating utilizes a lot of mind power. In the process of solving a problem an administrator may expend all of his natural mind power and then find himself unable to produce more. Such a loss of power finally affects physical and mental health, resulting in damage to the administrator and to his administration abilities. Rest through meditation is an absolute necessity. Administration takes place over a long period of time and if an administrator understands the need for resting the mind and generating mind power through meditation, good opportunities will arise. Meditation is thus accumulation of mind power to enable an administrator to deal with difficult situations.
Administration requires emotion, and the emotion arising needs to be cleansed. Without meditation, the mind cannot be controlled and emotions cannot be cleared. This is similar to using dirty water to wash dirty items, the more you wash, the dirtier the items will become. However, if you use clean water, the items will become cleaner. If you try to clear troubling emotions with confusing emotions, the result will be even greater confusion. However, if you subject the troubling situation to the calmness of mind power, a way to solve the problem will soon present itself. Thus, resting the body and mind with meditation is useful and essential for the administrator. The mind power produced from meditation can be used for problem solving and can be used to clear away the deficiencies of administration.
