The Practice
of Meditation
|
 |
|
We can practice meditation in two ways:
1) Informal meditation practice 2) Formal meditation practice Informal
Meditation PracticeInformal meditation is appropriate for those who
have little free time. For example, entrepreneurs, administrators,
laborers, etc. Mind power is very important and has many benefits
for the individual as well as all of society, and meditation is the
method for producing mind power. For this reason, there is a system
that provides the opportunity for everyone to find time for meditation.
This informal meditation practice allows the individual to practice
alone with a minimal time commitment. As little as 5 minutes of meditation
practice three times per day will generate mind power. However, the
best way is to get instruction and guidance from a qualified meditation
instructor who teaches both theory and practice. This is similar to
going to a health center to start a physical fitness programme. Without
appropriate instruction one may hurt oneself or be misled and not
gain the desired benefits. |

The appropriate meditation technique allows
the conscious mind to become still and focused resulting in the production
and accumulation of mind power.Informal meditation is suitable for
everyone, regardless of age, gender, position, or daily schedule.
The main goal of meditation is to increase the power of the mind,
and informal practice for only 5 minutes three times a day is sufficient
to produce and accumulate mind power. This will benefit not only oneself,
but also one's family, society, and the world. If you are extremely
busy, do not forget to meditate. All strain and stress will disappear
and happiness will take its place. You will be refreshed and able
to manage your responsibilities more effectively and efficiently. |

Formal Meditation
Practice
|
|
Becoming a university student, an athlete, a physician,
or a businessperson requires certain factors and conditions. One
must pass through many processes before becoming successful. Formal
meditation practice is no exception. There must be a learning process,
a knowledgeable teacher, and a place where one is being trained
and gains experience.

You can choose the informal simple meditation practice,
or even better, you can choose the formal one. The choice is yours.
The purpose is the same: that is "the accumulation of your mind
power" to refine emotion into tranquility, prudence, peace and
to effectively reduce tension and preoccupation. In formal meditation,
you must follow criteria, practice consistently, and with the wisdom
and guidance of a knowledgeable teacher you will progress successfully.
Formal meditation practice, therefore, must consist of the following
elements:
1.There must be a teacher
2.There must be a place to practice
3.There must be a specified time
4.There must be rules and regulations
5.There must be an appropriate word for "silent recitation"
6.There must be a "location point" within the body
7.There must be specific postures
8.There must be group practice
9.There must be individual practice |

Sitting Meditation
Walking Meditation
|
| In formal eating, there are many elements involved:
time, place, utensils, dishes, fruits, vegetables, the main course,
dessert, and so on. We may eat alone or in a group. Depending on the
choices we make, the results may be more or less satisfying. The quality
and energy value of the nutrition will also depend on our food choices.
This is the same for practicing meditation. It is important to choose
the type of meditation you prefer and that you know has high value.
The proven technique aims at "the accumulation of mind power."
If eating food is for physical health, practicing meditation is for
mental health. Let us all practice meditation and we shall find the
path to happiness, the state of peace and tranquility for which we
long. Meditation is the path to success and peace. |
