As initiated by Phra Tep Jetiyajan, Luangphor
Viriyang Sirintharo, Lord Abbot of Wat Dhammamongkol, the aim of this
project is to bring peace and tranquility to all the people in this
world regardless of their race, creed or faith and to enable sound
development of mental health and physical well being to be achieved,
leading to real happiness. Only advice will be offered; in no way
is anyone coerced to follow nor is anyone implicitly or explicitly
required to abandon his or her original faith. The advice on daily
practice of meditation and development of mind power is to bring tranquility
to our daily life and to ultimately enjoy sound physical and mental
health.
Peace and tranquility will exist on earth for the following two reasons:
1. Ahimsa dhamma : refraining from committing offenses against one
another (i.e. be it by words or deeds).
2. Metta dhamma : self-sacrifice and mutual assistance. |
| These two Dhamma can only arise in humankind if people
are in possession of the necessary mind power, which, arises from
inner stillness, which, arises from oneness, which, is created by
practicing meditation. Therefore, The World Peace Through Meditation
Project is initiated for the benefit, peace of mind and happiness
of humankind. |
|
|
| In actual fact, everyone in this world possesses mind
power. Over - utilization of mind power in daily working life causes
unbearable stress and strain resulting in unwittingly doing the sort
of things which cause trouble for oneself and others, simply because
there is a depletion of mind power per se to put this emotion under
control. |
|
|
| It all boils down to insufficient mind power. For this
reason, peace of mind and happiness would prevail on earth should
everyone in this world practice meditation together regularly to enhance
their mind power. This is similar to being physically strong on account
of daily exercise resulting in physical agility, alertness and nimbleness
as well as enhanced immunity against diseases. These are some of the
benefits derived from physical exercise. |
|
|
| By the same token, daily meditation is a kind of daily
mental exercise conducive for strengthening mental health, inducing
a happy frame of mind, reducing agitation, relieving stress and strain,
lessening worry, improving ability to concentrate and to work well
with greater efficiency. Daily mental exercise and the result of meditation
not only prolong a happy life but also enable peace to prevail on
earth. |
